You don’t have to replace everything in your house at one time. Do as I have done and consider replacing the power for some outbuildings or outdoor lighting first so you can get more comfortable with how well wind and solar power work. When you do-it-yourself if really doesn’t cost that much.
Here is a review site for three good guides that teach you how to do your own wind or solar power for your home. I chose the first one because of the videos but they all seem to offer the same basic information.
